6 weeks

Bend To The End is only 6 weeks away! Bogotá, Columbia to Ushuaia, Argentina and then back up to Santiago, Chile. 

Planning for this trip began in 2018 once I convinced a friend to join me over a campfire. We probably had too many beverages that night because he eventually changed his mind. I was bummed and not sure how I was going to make the trip — yet he put me in touch with Ed who put me in touch with Sergio…. This new group of three was going to South America in Q1 2022! Not too fast... Covid restrictions and border closures prevented us from going. Instead the three of us headed to Mexico. Now, finally, we are heading to South America. Unfortunately, without Ed, yet we picked up another rider, Shuli.

Serious planning began after we returned from Mexico. The basic route and itinerary were built. We contracted to have the bikes delivered to Columbia. Plane tickets are in hand. Oh, I didn’t mention all the shots - yellow fever, typhoid, hep A & B, and a few more plus Covid. 

Now the motorcycle is packed and ready for pick up - 12k service, new tires and a travel inspection by my local mechanic. The motorcycle will get trucked to Miami and then flown into Bogotá. Sergio, Shuli and I will meet up, make sure the bikes are ready to roll, and hopefully begin our journey by October 1st. When the trip is over I will meet my wife in Peru for the holidays.

Am I excited - absolutely! Am I nervous - hell yes! I just don’t know how to describe the feelings as there are so many that swirl around.
