Music woke us up at 6:45am. No, not just music - loud blaring, pounding music. Once I got up to see the street was closed for a marathon. We pulled out at 9am down the street the wrong way to avoid the street closures and easily made it out of Quito. Once at Ambato we took the small, winding highway 491 up to the Chimborazo Reserve Entrance. A left at El Arenal ran just next to Chimborazo. As we stopped to gear up for the rain and snow we met a family selling goods on the street. The kids was so cute and insisted to help us all gear up!
The road took us to 14,4698 feet. It was cold and snowing! Fortunately I followed a large bus that served as my snow plow.
Tonight we are in a hostel near Laguna Colta not far from Riobamba. Shuli and I parked our bikes in a shed across from the hostel and Sergio backed into the lobby. There is no restaurant here so we will cook our on food. The hostel is clean and we have the place to ourselves.
