said we cannot make it from Choix into Urique or Batopilas as we had planned. He said you must have full off road tires to make the dirt road - we are each running 50/50 Dunlop Trailmax Missions. So…. we redirected to Durango, up and over the Sierra Madre mountains on the Espinoza del Diablo. Epic ride!
After the final toll booth the military checkpoint seemed imposing, yet they waived us right through. Our hotel is probably the nicest in all of Durango. We walked around the Historico Centro and learned the town was first settled over 400 years ago. Ed even contemplated a haircut.
