MX22: San Juanico

I'm pretty sure we found heaven - San Juanico, BCS!

The ferry from Mazatlán to La Paz was uneventful. We bought our tickets and boarded the boat by 2pm with a 5:30pm departure. We all slept well in the junior suite. Docking at La Paz at 6:30am it took over an hour to get unloaded and through the military checkpoint. The army guys confirmed we made a good decision to avoid Copper Canyon.

After a successful search for Sergio's espresso, we rode 3 hours to Ciudad Costitucion for gas and lunch. Another 3 hours to San Juanico. The road at times was losing to nature. We dodged severe potholes and and various animals - horses, cows and goats. As we neared our destination sand covered parts on the highway.

San Juanico is heavenly! I don't have the vocabulary to describe it properly. Remote, stunning bay on the Pacific Ocean. We rented a palapa and we made pasta with tomato sauce from 3 jet boils. The little restaurant and bar at the campsite was crowded with locals.

The sunset was gorgeous. Stars dotted the black sky. I saw the Milky Way for the first time since I was visiting my grandma's farm in Texas. Morning brought an incredible sunrise. We made coffee and ate at the little restaurant.
