¡Hola Perú

From Macará we entered Perú first thing in the morning. The border crossing was very easy. Immigration and customs in Ecuador and the same in Perú. The entire process took us about 2 hours. We ran into the German guys again (one now lives in Brazil and the other in Australia).  Both on KTM 890’s.

Once in Perú the difference could not be more striking. From the lush mountains of Ecuador, this part of Perú is barren and dirty with high humidity.  It felt more like rural Baja, Mexico. The small towns are jammed with “moto taxis” called tuk tuk in other parts of the world.

We finished our day in Piura, the capital of northwestern Perú with 500,000 people. Moto taxis jam the streets while everyone fights to get one car ahead. Like Chicago, they love to honk their horns here.

We headed into the center of town to explore and eat dinner. We decided to take a moto taxi! These guys go face to face with giant buses and trucks. Dinner was fabulous - I had my first ceviche! Second only to the steak I had in Bogotá. After dinner Shuli and Sergio worked on Shuli’s request for a visa for Argentina. Seems both Lima and La Paz will offer an interview. The embassy in Bogotá simply blew us off.
